(contd) Oh well, the weather's good, it's early and there's bound to be somewhere further on. Whilst there a lady came up to ask if we needed any help. We said we were looking for accommodation so she said there was a place about a mile back. Not wanting to go backwards we opted to carry on (mistake!). However, she saw my (new) sign re LEJOG and donated a tenner. She was officially retiring from her teaching job today - taught art and something else I've now forgotten! Cycled on without seeing anywhere to stay. Stopped a postman in 'Top o'th' Lane' (fantastic name!) and he pointed us in the direction of a farmhouse that did B&B but didn't advertise. We cycled about 1/4 mile down the farm lane - no-one home - aaahhh! Cycled back out, carried on to the next pub, had a shandy each and found a hotel on the map slightly off route. Relief! Got here 3.50.

Just to let you a friend who did enduro africa is starting out today. same route as you but planning to do it in 10 days so will be passing you at some point so look out for them. his name is Dave brown and he is with 6 mates, Cora
