Had a good night at the Ballyhennan Toll House in Tarbet. Jim our host was very welcoming and gave us a good breakfast to send us on our way. I can really recommend this B&B. Left at 9.30. Weather good. Just down the road Peter stopped to put more air in his tyre and bent the valve. He spent a few minutes straightening it - our first repair on the move! We thought that the cycling would get quite hairy from Tarbet as there is no cycle lane from here and the road is narrow. Actually it was no problem. Most drivers were driving slowly and considerately. It was when the road got wider that people passed closer and faster. Loch Lomond is a long lake, isn't it? We spent half the day yesterday and a lot of today alongside it! Finally leaving it we had a steady climb for some miles. We decided to stop in a layby for a drink and met a lovely couple from Holland - Gerard and Elisabeth Schotten - who gave us a biscuit to go with our tea (see picture). Carried on climbing and turned the corner at Crianlarich towards Fort William. Had a downhill run for quite along way and stopped at Tyndrum for some cheesey chips for lunch (Peter had a pie as well). I went to the loo and when I came out - there was Jim from the B&B getting some chips (his place was about 20 miles back)! Started climbing again and spotted the W. Highland Way on our right. On into Bridge of Orchy where we were going to stop for the night but it was only 1.45 and we both felt ok. Decided to keep going to a hotel we knew about in the middle of nowhere - Kings House Hotel. (John and Bobbie will remember this as we all stayed here when they were doing the WHWay and we spent a couple of days walking with them.) We decided to camp here though. Before getting there we went through some stunning scenery. We climbed up to Rannoch Moor and stopped for the view back in the direction we had come down below us. Arrived at the hotel at 3.15 to be greeted by midges! Set up camp.
