FW: Sunday 5 September

John Clayton must have changed his starting date from the one I had on his itinerary. He will probably overtake us before we get to Fort William. It will be interesting to meet up.

We started off at 9.30 this morning, and it's more of the same - the road alongside the motorway is long, quiet and straight. Quite boring really. Our destination should be Abington, but we may go on further as we are ahead of schedule. Paul Taaffe has phoned to say that he will meet up with us today - he is going to hire a car and come up from Manchester.

We arrive at Abington at 12.30 and stop for something to eat outside a shop where we meet two lads taking the same time doing LEJOG as we are doing, only they are doing more miles than we are but taking more breaks. They are Michael and Luke.

Paul and Dorothy arrive at the services at Abington, where we have decided to stay the night after all, and we spend a pleasant few hours chatting. In fact I have been lent Paul's laptop to type this - so much better than typing on the phone!!

How did the Triatholon go Pam?

Not much to report today. Glasgow tomorrow.

Mileage: 27.32
Max height 1082 ft
Current height 807 ft
Ascent 2798 ft
