Friday 27 August

Had breakfast in the very pleasantly appointed B&B and then went off for my haircut at 9.30 while Peter checked out the bikes. The front brakes haven't been working too well, so he's giving them the once over. I came back from a very entertaining session with the 19 year old hairdresser, who was a real scream. Peter had found that the brakes just needed a jolly good clean and so he had done that and also dryed out the tent by hanging it over the swings in the back garden of the B&B.
We had a cup of tea, then went off into town and had a guided tour around Hereford Cathedral. By the time that ended it was nearly time for my Thai massage, so we went outside and eat our butties that I'd prepared earlier. We went off to the Thai place - Peter went back to the B&B for another cup of tea and to take the tent down.
This is the first time that I have had a Thai massage - I can recommend it!! First of all, I was made to sit down whilst my feet were soaked in a wooden tub of warm water with slices of lime floating in it and some pleasant smelling herbs. Then my feet were dried and I was taken behind a screen, where I was given some VERY baggy trousers (I could fit in them 3 times over) and a loose fitting blouse to put on instead of what I was wearing. Then I was asked to lie down on a foam mattress on the floor, I was pummelled and pulled into shape, but it was a very pleasant experience. The lady used her feet and hands - and knelt on me at some points - to massage me. It was a pressure massage - no oil involved. After the session, she told me I was a very flexible lady - very fit :-)
Peter met me outside after the hour and off we went back to the Catherdral, as we wanted to see the Mappa Mundi. We then went for a walk along the river (after a cuppa and cake in the cafe). Peter lead me astray again - we ended up along a muddy path and my going out shoes and trousers got muddy. Now I have to go out for a meal in muddy trousers!!
In the library now and only have a minute left, so we're off. Bye.
Note for Roelof: Using Satmap GPS + maps for backup + eyeball Mk1

  1. Just caught up on your blog after 4 days of grandchildren-minding - it's brilliant (the blog not the child-minding!) - a really good read!
Am impressed by the kindness of total strangers - it quite restores your faith .....
