After a full English breakfast, we were waved off by Monty (Brian), Sarah & Zoe - Ashley having been sent away 4 the night so we could have his room! It was raining naturally! On Monty's advice we took a route out via a local factory bakery and bought a Cornish pastie hot from the ovens. Put it away for later (couldn't pack two). Tough day today. Loads of long, slow hills. Just when you thought the hill was coming to an end, there was more to come around the corner. Busy B road for a while then we went onto quieter lanes. Lots of 'spurty' riding (cars waiting for you to come up a narrow bit of road so you put a spurt on). Either that or stopping part way us a hill and tucking right into the hedge so they could get by. More hills. [What's wrong with the oddometer? It won't move from 29 miles!] Finally hot onto the Camel trail - fantastic! An old railway line so quite flat for about 7 miles but then we had to get off and - you guessed it - go uphill another 4 miles to Blisland and then Penquite Farm on Bodmin Moor where we are camping. So if there are no more blogs after this one, you know 'The Beast' was out on the prowl . . .
Mileage: 42.82 miles
